The Shop at Old Austerlitz

It has been a while since I've posted, and it has been a very busy summer so far. One of the projects I have been working on is The Shop at Old Austerlitz for the Austerlitz Historical Society . The Society operates a beautiful property in Columbia County, New York and this is the first actual shop they have opened on the property. So I thought I'd give you a tour, and an example of what can be done with very little money, some good volunteers, and a bit of creativity.

Tamara Eaton

Jeffrey Harris Design, article
Tamara Eaton is a young designer who grew-up in Charlottesville, Virginia and then moved to New York to study art history and urban design at NYU. After five years of working with the David Howell Design firm, Tamara took the plunge and opened her own firm in 2009. Many of her clients are young professionals and she is especially popular with the Brooklyn brownstone set. Her look is contemporary and clean (meaning minimal clutter) with a nod toward historical precedence.
Her work is also included in the recently published New York Living: Re-Inventing Home (Rizzoli, 2017).

The large living space in a Tribeca loft. Here Tamara has broken up the enormous room with four distinct seating areas and a dining area (you can see the fourth seating alcove just beyond the dining table).

The alcove--for intimate talks.

A nice touch in the bedroom.

Next is a Brooklyn brownstone. The owners wanted to keep the historic details of the house, but preferred modern furniture with a bit of urban edge.

The bathtub, with a view of the garden, sits in the master bedroom alcove.
