If you happen to Google
Marcel Wanders, and click on
images, you might be surprised by the plethora of photos; let's just say that Mr. Wanders is not camera shy. If, however, you were to Google his actual design work, you will be astounded by the sheer scale of his accomplishments. Marcel Wanders is truly a wonder!
Born in Boxtel, the Netherlands, he now resides and works in Amsterdam. He is a product designer, an interior designer (a lot of hotels and commercial work, but also some private residences), an art director, an architect, and rumor has it, a soon-to-be film producer. His work is seldom subtle, and he definitely takes pleasure in the pure joy of whimsy, much of his work references traditional design seen in a new way. Let's take a look at some of his product design first and then move on to the fabulous over-the-top interiors. Prepare to be amazed!

The Charleston Chair also for Moooi (Marcel is an owner and the director of Moooi).
|
I could go on and on with his product design; it is estimated that he has designed upwards of 1,900 products. Incidentally, the product that first made his name was this chair which he designed for Droog back in 1995:
