The Shop at Old Austerlitz

It has been a while since I've posted, and it has been a very busy summer so far. One of the projects I have been working on is The Shop at Old Austerlitz for the Austerlitz Historical Society . The Society operates a beautiful property in Columbia County, New York and this is the first actual shop they have opened on the property. So I thought I'd give you a tour, and an example of what can be done with very little money, some good volunteers, and a bit of creativity.

Fun and Stylish in Paris

Carole and Stephane Borraz met while studying at the Ecole du Louvre. Their love of antiques and design led to their own stand at the flea market of Saint-Ouen. In 2003 the couple took a giant leap and opened a small shop, Galerie Salon, in the chic Saint-Germain-des-Pres neighborhood of Paris.

The shop, managed by Carole, is chock-full of French, Swedish and Italian antiques, vintage items, an eclectic mix of contemporary art, as well as, items from an assortment of design studios. It is a fun place to shop -- everything you image a Paris shop should be. Carole has a designer's eye; an ability to mix styles--high and low--into a unique and stylish whole. Carole and Stephane and their two daughters live near the shop, they can see Saint-Sulpice from the windows. The apartment is small, but location is everything. Carole says that when anything comes into the apartment, something else must go! Here is a look at the family's small, but stylish apartment:

Here are a few photos of the shop:
