The Shop at Old Austerlitz

It has been a while since I've posted, and it has been a very busy summer so far. One of the projects I have been working on is The Shop at Old Austerlitz for the Austerlitz Historical Society . The Society operates a beautiful property in Columbia County, New York and this is the first actual shop they have opened on the property. So I thought I'd give you a tour, and an example of what can be done with very little money, some good volunteers, and a bit of creativity.

Goodbye Givenchy

Today is a sad day and truly the-end-of-an-era with the news of the death of Hubert de Givenchy at age 91. He is survived by his partner of many years Phillippe Venet. Always an elegant and kind man, a devout Christian from an aristocratic French family, he literally towered over others at six foot, six inches.  Most know the story of his rise to fame in the 1950's; his great lifelong friendship with muse, Audrey Hepburn and the little black dress; his famously dressing Jacqueline Kennedy, the Duchess of Windsor, and many others (Incidentally, the Duke of Windsor once asked him why is clothing was so expensive!) Hubert de Givenchy truly was a talented and noble gentleman.

Here are some photographs from his life, interspersed with images from his beloved Chateau Le Jonchet le Dore:
